Why Traders Have Difficulty Spotting Trend Changes in Real Time

At first glance it seems easy, a quick look to the left side of your chart and you can easily spot the pivot points leading to meaningful trend changes. What appears to be child’s play on a static chart becomes a very different scenario when you are trading live off a 5 minute chart or even a 15 minute or hourly time frame.

Those pivot points are suddenly dualistic vantage points which your mind views with great apprehension and unease. Which way is it going to go? Up or down? What was clear a few minutes ago in retrospect, now appears to be highly uncertain terrain on a live chart

This is usually the time when traders reach to yet another indicator, or draw yet another trend line, only finding that the different scenarios now on offer are causing more confusion than is comfortable for the overworked mind that simply cannot handle taking in more than four pieces of information at any 30 seconds or so.
